World Bank Group and World Health Organization co-host first high-level meeting on global mental health
In April 2016, APEC Executive Director Alan Bollard joined World Bank President Jim Yong Kim and World Health Organization Director-General Margaret Chan at the World Bank Group and World Health Organization's first high-level meeting on global mental health. Coinciding with the 2016 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, the meeting engaged finance ministers, multilateral and bilateral organizations, the business community, technology innovators, and civil society to recognize the need for urgent investments in mental health services, including identification of cost-effective, affordable and feasible interventions, their integration into primary care and community settings as part of the progressive realization of universal health coverage, and the expected returns on investment in terms of health, social and economic benefits.
