We recognize that collaborative, multi-sector partnerships are fundamental in the effort to address complex mental health challenges that cut across personal, social, and economic domains. Our Partners span government, academic and research, private-sector, non-governmental and advocacy organizations, ensuring our projects both leverage and reflect the range of expertise, priorities, and needs of our diverse stakeholders.

Government

An inter-governmental economic organization, APEC's accomplishments are the direct result of committed, voluntary engagement by all levels of government officials and their respective institutions. The Digital Hub likewise benefits from its active government and government-mandated partners in several APEC economies, including the Department of Health, Australia; the Public Health Agency of Canada and the Mental Health Commission of Canada; the Ministry of Health, Chile; the Ministry of Health, Indonesia; the Ministry of Health, Malaysia; and the Directorate of Mental Health and Social Change, Papua New Guinea.

Public mental health policies, from health care spending and resource allocation to legislation, will continue to play a critical role in addressing challenges in mental health. We rely on the influence, expertise, and support of our government partners in promoting and sharing best practices and innovative solutions in health care policy and governance affecting mental health and wellness at large.

Academic and Research Centres

Innovation through collaborative, cutting-edge research is a cornerstone of the Digital Hub's approach to the challenges and opportunities in mental health. We are partnered with some of the world's top universities and research institutes leading the search for improved diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders, as well as for innovative solutions to the social, economic, and political factors that can contribute to, perpetuate, and complicate mental illness.

Our academic and research partners include the University of Melbourne, Australia; the University of British Columbia, the University of Alberta, and the Ontario Brain Institute, Canada; Peking University, China; the National Institute of Mental Health of the National Centre of Neurology and Psychiatry, Japan and the Japan Organization for Occupational Health and Safety; the National Center for Mental Health, Korea; Ramón de la Fuente Muñiz National Institute of Psychiatry, Mexico; the National Center for Mental Health and the University of the Philippines, Manila in the Philippines; the Institute of Mental Health, Singapore; the National Institute of Mental Health in the United States; and the Research and Training Center for Community Development, Viet Nam.

Private-Sector

Our private-sector partners know a mentally healthy workforce is critical for success. They recognize their important role in fostering psychologically healthy workplaces, leading by example with appropriate accommodations and protections for their employees, and pursuing bold new ideas to promote and protect workers' mental health and well-being. Given the staggering costs of mental illness through work absence and lowered productivity, our private sector partners understand the stakes and are critical players in our vision for a mentally healthy Asia-Pacific.

Our private sector partners include Janssen Asia-Pacific, a major contributor of seed funding for the Digital Hub platform, and Upjohn, A Pfizer Division.

Non-Governmental Organizations

Non-governmental organizations do important work in many areas of mental health, often identifying and bridging gaps in services, community care, research, training and capacity building, and lobbying.

Our partnered non-governmental organizations include the Mental Health Commission of Canada, Grand Challenges Canada, the Mood Disorders Society of Canada, the Research and Training Centre for Community Development (RTCCD), Viet Nam, the World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA), and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).

Clinical Centres

Clinical centres, where mental health and other health services are provided to patients and their families, are important partners with the experience, infrastructure, and knowledge to contribute to our understanding of and solutions to challenges in mental health care. Many clinical centres are large hospitals that run research and clinical training programs and prepare the next generations of health care providers to diagnose and treat mental illness.

Several of our partnered academic and research institutes also serve as clinical and training hubs.
Advocacy Groups and People with Lived Experience

People with lived experience of mental illness and the advocacy groups that represent them are powerful partners in the fight for mentally well societies. They provide first-hand knowledge and experience that is crucial to inform appropriate, realistic, relevant, and effective mental health interventions, programs, and policies. The Digital Hub is committed to working with people with lived experience and advocacy groups at every stage and every level of intervention to ensure we reach our goals.

Our advocacy and lived experience partners include the Mood Disorders Society of Canada, one of the three founding Host Institutions of the Digital Hub.
